Today Room11 took part in our annual cross-country race. Well done to everybody who took part but especially well done to Hugo and Kennedy who both came first! Watch the short video below to see how hard we all ran!

Reflection Robots
We have been learning about reflection today. We made robots by drawing one half of them on squared paper and then reflecting them and drawing the other half. They looked pretty good!
There is also a website we can use to practice reflecting patterns. CLICK HERE

Finishing a Story
Click here to add a page to our story and write what happens next. Remember that problems need to be solved and that heroes of children's stories hardly ever die! Try to make your ending more than just a paragraph. The longer and more interesting you make the solution, the better!

Senses Poem
Today we are going to write a poem about a foggy forest. We will think about what our senses could see, hear, smell and touch. We will try to make the reader feel a certain way using our words. Maybe we will make feel them scared by using words like 'sad echos' or 'gloomy shadows' and writing short sentences. Or maybe it will sound cheerful by using words like, 'birds singing' or 'sunshine peeping through the mist'.
When you have finished, read some other people's poems and write a speech bubble to give them some feedback- tell them how it made you feel.

Things we love to do...
This week room 11 will be working on writing some poetry about an activity that we treasure. It might be as simple as watching a movie or as big as skiing on Coronet Peak. We thought carefully about how you do it and tried to add as much detail as possible. Then we found all the keywords and phrases and highlighted them. Tomorrow we will take these keywords and rearrange them into a poem. Some of us finished quicker than others and had time to quickly type their words into tagxedo to form an interesting picture based on these keywords. Take a look at Sid's work about trampolining and John's about snowboarding....
This week for spelling we researched how verbs change when you add -ed or -ing to them. The list of spelling words to choose from is below...

Week 1!
We have started using a website called tagxedo.com
It is really good for putting words into shapes. Today we thought about different things to do with New Zealand or Auckland. We then published them into a picture of a place we know, like the sky tower or rainbows end. Have a look at our work below...
Or click here to visit tagxedo and make your own.
